We have a number of fundraising support groups throughout the city who year on year raise much needed funds on our behalf. They do this in a number of ways through organising fundraising events, sponsored activities and through collections. Woodlands Hospice Support Groups
Pat Caffrey- Whilst Pat has not established herself as a Support group- She is more of a one man band she has made such a huge impact by way of her fundraising efforts. Since her husband died n October 2004, having been a patient at the hospice, Pat has raised nearly £99,00 through her tireless fundraising efforts and with a few friends and people in the local community.
Crosby Support Group- This group has been established since 1996 when the hospice first opened. This long established group raise funds for the hospice regularly with a varied calendar of events throughout the year including barn dances, quizzes, musical evenings and dinner merry go rounds.
Old Roan Friends Support Group- This group are well known for their cream teas. Their annual events include the Tea Day and the Grand Community Carol Concert which is going from strength to strength.
Maghull Support Group- This group is headed by Sadie Jones and has been established since 1997. At present they have raised a wonderful £46,254 for the Hospice. The group is well known for the hard work throughout the year and for the annual Eater and Christmas Bingos at the Holy Rosary Club. We would like to extend a very sincere Thank You to the Maghull Group and to all those who hep them in the efforts to make the events so successful.
Carol Hayes Memorial Fund Support Group Blundellsands- was formed in memory of Carole who sadly passed away in April 2005. The group has been very pro active raising funds for the bedded unit with a wish to raise enough money to have an en-suite room named after Carole. Their most successful event is the Ladies Luncheon that is held at Formby Golf course.
Mary Graham Support Group Kirkby- This group was set up in memory of Mary Graham who was a former patient at the hospice. Mary’s husband John and children Amy, Leah and John (along with other family members) continue to fundraise for the hospice and have placed a leaf on the Hospices Tree for their efforts.
Flo Edwards Memorial Fund- This support group has been raising money for many years in memory of Flo Edwards, who herself was a huge supporter of the Hospice. To Date the group have raised in excess of £14,000, which includes donations from charity nights.
