Corporate Support
There are many ways in which your organisation could support Woodlands Hospice:
- You could adopt us as your Charity of the Year and work with us on a year-long programme of support and events. Please visit our Charity of the Year page to see examples of those who have currently and in the past adopted us for ideas of what you could do!
- You could request that Woodlands Hospice become a recipient of your existing Pennies from Heaven scheme within your workplace or encourage your employer to sign up to the scheme - basically you and your colleagues donate the 'pence' from your monthly pay to Woodlands Hospice (please click on the green highlighted Pennies from Heaven text to find out more about their scheme)
- There are opportunities for straightforward sponsorship of events such as the Starlight Walk and some of our Balls, Dinners and Concerts. Please call or email us for more information
- However, we are also delighted to work with organisations to come up with bespoke projects to work on together. We are delighted to accept offers of time as well as money and have regular need for short-term professional expertise in many areas to help support our ongoing fundraising and administrative work.
Below are examples of some of the corporate partnerships we are currently involved in and which we have been involved with in the past.
Woodlands Hospice has gained support from the Royal Bank of Scotland, Glaxo-Smith-Kline (GSK) and Dairy Crest. All companies had members of staff swap their usual days work for a day in the hospice.
Dairy Crest continue their ongoing support through various volunteer projects and recently assembled some garden furniture in preparation for a Royal Bank of Scotand team arriving at the Hospice to stain them. We have also received donations from both Dairy Crest and their employees towards providing the day to day care at the Hospice and more recently, the purchase of a barbecue which was used over the summer months for some 'al fresco' lunches for patients.
Below, employees Chris Hall, Site Director (left) and James Maher, Engineer (right) were here in mid-June preparing the garden benches.

Through a Help the Hospices ‘Get Your Hands Dirty’ Challenge we recently had the assistance of a group of nine Royal Bank of Scotland employees doing a volunteer day at the Hospice. As part of the challenge the Hospice also benefited from a £50 per head donation and £35 per head towards materials for each of the RBS team from Help the Hospices. The team worked so hard during the day and managed to stain all the garden furniture in the Day Therapy garden and court yards outside the in-patient unit including benches, tables, chairs and bird tables and also pressure washed some block paving around the in-patient unit. Not giving in to tiredness the team then finished off the day with a well deserved night out in Liverpool.
A group of volunteers had an extra-special reason for choosing to spend a day at Woodlands Hospice. The six-strong team from healthcare company Glaxo-Smith-Kline (GSK) were taking part in the company’s Orange Day – a day when staff are encouraged to swap their normal roles and help a charity.
Medical representative Stuart Whitelaw suggested Woodlands in Fazakerley because his mother, Mary, had died there almost precisely four years earlier. “Everyone at Woodlands was brilliant with her. I’ve kept in touch with Woodlands and it’s a cause which is really close to my heart”, said Stuart.
The GSK team helped to fit out a new storage building at Woodlands, which was part-funded by the Department of Health and the North West Training Council provided labour free of charge to build the store through their construction apprentices.
“Creating this much-needed facility has been a fantastic example of co-operation and support from the community,” said Woodlands Chief Executive Rose Milnes.
“For the GSK team to choose to give their time to us was the icing on the cake, and means a great deal to us.”
Geoff Green from the NWTC said: “I can’t thank the Hospice enough for trusting us to build this project. They have shown how much can be gained by working within the community, and giving young people a chance.”
A BIG THANK YOU TO ALL INVOLVED!
