Secretary to the Chief Executive

Salary Scale £21,139 to £23,454 per annum (Depending on experience)

Due to the retirement of the current longstanding postholder, an exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Secretary within the Hospice. Providing a professional and high quality secretarial service to the Chief Executive and the Chair of the Board of Trustees, the successful candidate will be qualified to RSA lll level (60 wpm) or equivalent and have worked in a senior secretarial role, preferably in a health care setting.

Minute taking and transcribing is a key part of this role and the Chief Executive and Board of Trustees rely heavily on the accuracy and timeliness of these minutes for the Board meetings, AGM and a number of regular Trustee-led sub committees.

The successful candidate will be self-motivated, have great organisational and communication skills, have advanced IT skills, and be able to prioritise their work to meet expected deadlines.

Well-being and Support Centre Manager

Part time: 33 hours per week (Monday - Friday)

Salary Scale £31,696 - £41,787per annum, pro rata  (Depending on experience)

Contract of employment is with Woodlands Hospice Charitable Trust however the pay scale mirrors NHS Agenda for Change Band 7.

An opportunity has arisen for an exceptional Senior Nurse to join our dedicated multi professional team as Wellbeing and Support Centre Manager, promoting holistic care and best practice in symptom control for patients with a palliative diagnosis living in the community.

The successful applicant will be responsible for the quality of care delivered by the Well-being and Support Centre and Hospice at Home and work collaboratively and co-operatively with others to develop these services. It is essential that applicants have demonstrable experience as a senior nurse working within a palliative care.

The successful applicant will be responsible for leading, managing and organising the Well-being and Support Centre services and Hospice at Home. Applicants should have demonstrable experience of line management and development of a clinical team and effective management of change.

The successful applicant must have substantial post registration experience.

A vacancy has arisen within our Trading Company for a strong leader with retail or trading experience to move forward with our challenging trading strategy to grow and develop our Charity Shops on the high street, the sale of our new goods and our weekly Lottery membership.

The successful candidate will have a proven track record of strong income generation, achievement of financial targets and a hunger to grow the trading company.

People management skills are a must and working with volunteers a distinct advantage.

Background:

Woodlands Hospice is a registered charity dedicated to providing hospice care for the people of North Liverpool, South Sefton and Kirkby in Knowsley.

Hospice care, also referred to as 'Specialist Palliative Care', aims to improve the lives of people who have a life-limiting illness. It helps them to live actively and be as independent as they can be and this support often extends to patients' carers, family and close friends.

Originally founded in 1996, we are presently situated in a modern, light and welcoming purpose-built building within the Aintree University Hospital campus.

Our care is 'holistic', which means that as well as taking care of patients' physical needs, their emotional, social and spiritual needs are also looked after.

The hospice sector is a dynamic and ever-changing environment. With current marketing conditions and funding cuts, a commercial and competitive outlook is crucial to future success. A robust marketing strategy is required to aid success by ensuring alignment with other areas of the organisation, strategic objectives and operational plan.

Requirement

Woodlands is competing for share of voice in an increasingly cluttered multi-channel marketing environment and must increase the digital presence as we progress further into the information stage. There is a lack of marketing specialism within the organisation and it is recognised that a proactive marketing strategy is required to draw the activities of the fundraising and functions more closely together.

Many of the roles across the organisational structure have a responsibility for marketing delivery and a cohesive marketing strategy is required. It is recommended that an external consultant is retained for a period of three to six months.

We are looking for support in the following areas:

  • Training, Mentoring and Support (Succession Planning)
