The Woodlands Outreach team has been operating since 2001 and was set up with the specific objective of offering services to patients and carers who are unable to attend the hospice because of illness or disability.
Patients will usually be referred by a health professional (doctor, nurse or other) and self-referral is also possible. Woodlands clinical staff will carry out a holistic initial assessment of new patients in order to ensure that all needs are met (for example special equipment for the home and support for the family).
The Complementary Therapists can provide Aromatherapy, Reflexology and Reiki in the homes of Woodlands patients who cannot attend the hospice. The therapists are experienced in delivering and adapting therapies for people who have advanced illness or mobility issues.
We aim to provide a course of four complementary therapy treatments which can sometimes be extended if resource allows. Patients can also be re-referred if this is needed depending on individual circumstances.
Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy
Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy can be provided in the home environment when necessary. A detailed assessment will be carried out, advice provided and equipment arranged in order to help patients live as comfortably and safely as possible at home.
