Big hand for Bert's bucket collections

Bert Makin

A big shout out this week goes to Bert Makin - a true unsung hero here at  Woodlands.

Bert, whose wife Doreen was cared for at Woodlands Hospice, attends our monthly bereavement friendship group and our family and friends forum. Over the years he has become a prolific fundraiser for the hospice.

Bert regularly raises money at his local social club but each year during the 3-day Grand National Races at Aintree and at Christmas time Bert collects with other hospice volunteers. At the recent Aintree races bucket collection Bert raised a whopping £700.  Bert has become a local personality wearing his sea captain fancy dress outfit and his Father Christmas outfit during our festive collections.  In all Bert has raised over £3,000 for Woodlands Hospice.  Well done Bert and a huge thank you for your amazing support and incredible hard work!

If you are inspired by Bert and his fundraising achievements please contact Christine on 0151 529 8117 or via email, to hear about our future fundraising opportunities.
