Ivan’s incredible 176 mile challenge!

Many people start off a New Year with a new goal or challenge to motivate themselves, and 12 year old Ivan Weights was no exception. Ivan set himself an amazing challenge to kick start 2021 whilst raising vital funds for Woodlands Hospice.

The inspiration for his challenge stemmed from missing his Uncle Andrew, who Ivan has not seen for over a year due to the ongoing circumstances around the global pandemic. He set about challenging himself to walk, run and cycle 176 miles – the total distance from his house to his Uncle Andrew’s house - and raise £176 for Woodlands Hospice. The hospice has special meaning to Ivan and his family as his Grandma was cared for here. As it approaches the 5th anniversary of her passing, Ivan wanted to raise the funds in her memory.

The year 7, Birkdale High student has already smashed his original target of £176 and raised an incredible £1,560 so far through JustGiving.
