Make a Meaningful Difference: Join Our Board of Trustees

At Woodlands Hospice, we’ve been caring for people across North Liverpool, South Sefton and Kirkby in Knowsley since 1996. Every day, we support individuals and families facing life-limiting illnesses with dignity, compassion and specialist care. But behind our staff teams and volunteers is another group of dedicated individuals helping to guide our charity’s future, our Board of Trustees.

We are now inviting applications for new Trustees to join our Board and help us continue delivering outstanding palliative and end-of-life care to those who need it most.

Why Become a Trustee?

Being a Trustee is one of the most rewarding ways you can give back to your community. It offers the chance to make a direct and lasting impact on the lives of others — ensuring patients and families receive the compassionate care they deserve; at the time they need it most.

As a member of our Board, you’ll work alongside fellow Trustees and the Executive Team to help shape the direction of the charity. You’ll contribute your expertise and insights to support good governance, strategic planning and long-term sustainability — all while championing the mission and values that make Woodlands Hospice so special.

Whether you’re an experienced board member or looking to take on your first Board role, this is an opportunity to be part of something bigger. You’ll be joining a passionate, values-led team working towards a shared goal: that everyone in our community affected by a life-limiting illness can access the best possible care and support.

Who We’re Looking For

We welcome applications from people of all backgrounds and experiences, particularly those with skills in the following areas:

  • Marketing, communications or public relations
  • Faith-based or community engagement
  • Finance, law or governance
  • Digital strategy or transformation
  • Fundraising or income generation
  • Healthcare or palliative care services

Most importantly, we’re looking for individuals who are committed to making a difference, who share our values, and who are ready to bring fresh ideas, insight and energy to our Board.

What’s Involved?

Trustees typically attend four Board meetings a year, along with occasional committee meetings and Hospice events. The role is voluntary, but we cover reasonable expenses, and you’ll receive a full induction and ongoing support.

Ready to Join Us?

If you are passionate about improving end-of-life care and want to contribute your time and skills to a much-loved local charity, we would love to hear from you.
